About

Julia Wheatley is a conceptual artist whose work begins by hand - working paper and found items into intricate collages which she uses as the compositional studies for her paintings. With a background in Industrial Design and over a decade working as a professional model she draws from her own unusual path, where diverse elements blend like a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. Wheatley’s work addresses themes of identity such as the choices we make and how we relate to the larger composition of life. While her artworks acknowledge the idea of every story as completely unique, her collage style paintings highlight the importance of shared narratives and the richness that community brings to the human experience.

Born in the United States and currently based on the East Coast, Wheatley earned her BFA Summa Cum Laude from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Her works have been exhibited in galleries worldwide, both digitally and physically as she dabbles in what it means to be a traditional artist in an increasingly digital world.
